Dick
Paige - Korean War Veteran
Ann Kagarise of the Suburbanite,
Thomas Limousines, Channel 19 News, The Patriot Guard
Riders and The Ohio Veterans' Memorial Park join
together to help fulfill a dream of a Korean War Veteran
who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Korean War Veteran, Dick Paige
had a "Bucket List". One of the things on his list was
to fly in a helicopter, with his daughter Denise
Sturgeon. We were honored to be able to be part of the
team that made this wish come true.
On Wednesday, August 11, 2010,
Mr. Paige and his daughter got to fly in a helicopter.
Ann Kagarise contacted The Ohio
Veterans' Memorial Park and said she needed help. She
heard the story of Dick Paige and she needed a
helicopter.
Mr. Paige, a Korean War veteran,
was diagnosed with terminal cancer. In addition to a
recent hot air balloon ride with his daughter, Denise,
he also wanted to fly in a helicopter. Several weeks ago
the family contacted a helicopter charter company and
paid them $ 750.00 for a trip in a helicopter. Things
soon fell apart and the flight never took place.
One of the staff members of the
Ohio Veterans' Memorial Park sent out an email and
within 30 minutes, Channel 19 News called with great
news. They had a helicopter and a pilot lined up and was
thrilled to be able to help a veteran!
The news reached Thomas
Limousines and they volunteered to drive Dick Paige and
his family to Burke Lakefront Airport to meet the
helicopter. They sent the limo, and not just any limo.
The donated an 18 man stretch Cadillac Escalade!
The Patriot Guard Riders also
heard of the special service, and was thrilled to lead
the way to Cleveland.
Ann Kagarise pulled everyone
together, planned out the events and soon Mr. Paige was
able to cross one more thing off of his list. Next on
the list....77 year old Paige said he may take up
sky-diving!
What a day! Thanks everyone!
